Subject: Bad Intel Chip SET
Sender: owner-lightwave-l@netcom.com
Precedence: bulk
I was on the phone with MicroSoft today at $2.95 a minute to find
out why my new Windows NT wouldn't install. It turns out that if your
machine runs the full Intel chip set, ( Not JUST the Pentium, but
all the supporting chips as well), you probably can't use internal
caching with NT. I turned OFF the cache and it works fine, but all
of the speed advantages go out the window because the machine
pokes along at about 1/4 speed. As soon as I turn caching back on
NT refuses to finish booting.
Has anyone come across this problem and potentially know a
solution?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
